Skiing in Châtel
The ski area of Châtel, offers to the unconditional skiers as well as to the contemplative skiers a whole range of possibilities for a stay at the measure of each one.
It covers two massifs: Super-Châtel/Barbossine and Linga/Pré-la-Joux/Plaine-Dranse, linked by the Portes du Soleil and Gabelou chairlifts, with a total of 45 runs and 42 lifts.
In winter, forget your car - free buses run throughout the resort, stopping just outside the hotel every 20 minutes to take you directly to the Gabelou and Portes du Soleil chairlifts.
Skiing in the Portes du Soleil
Located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, the Châtel ski area is directly linked to several resorts:
Avoriaz: the resort of Avoriaz is directly accessible by the slopes. From Pré-la-Joux, take the Pierre-Longue chairlift then the Rochassons chairlift. Once you reach the top of the ridge, you can switch to the Avoriaz ski area via the red "Chaux-Fleuri" slope or the blue "Grand Plan" slope.
Torgon: from Super-Châtel, you can go directly to the Swiss resort of Torgon by the Tour de Don ski lift.
Morgins: from Super-Châtel, the link to Morgins is via the Chalet Neuf ski lift.
La Chapelle d'Abondance: from the Barbossine sector, switch to the Swiss resort of Torgon via the red trail of the Col de Croix, which takes you to the top of the hill.Then take the Djeu des Têtes ski lift and the Conches 2000 ski lift. Several itineraries are then available to you until the Panthiaz cable car which will take you to the Chapelle d'Abondance. A shuttle bus will then take you to the Crêt Béni sector on the Chapelle.
Snowshoeing in Châtel
Do you prefer snowshoeing and the great outdoors?
Châtel offers around ten signposted routes between France and Switzerland.
From a one-hour stroll to a 4 or 5-hour hike. You're bound to find something to suit you.
Snowshoeing is an ideal way to spend quality time with family and friends, with all the pleasures it has to offer.
Nordic skiing at La Chapelle d'Abondance
Just 10 minutes from the Hotel Belalp, in the village of La Chapelle d'Abondance, you'll discover a magnificent pedestrian Nordic ski area.
More than 20 km of daily groomed runs, you'll enjoy 5 runs of different levels, allowing you to practise both skating and cross-country skiing.
There are also footpaths along part of the route.
